Aussie fans of Tyrrells chips are heartbroken after the brand was pulled from supermarket shelves across the country.
Ten Years Down Under
Tyrrells, originally made on a farm in Herefordshire, England, arrived in Australia in 2014. The brand became a hit with its thick-cut crisps and bold flavours. It even set up a $6 million factory in Victoria’s Yarra Valley using Aussie-grown potatoes.
Low Demand Ends Production
Despite the local investment, Tyrrells is being discontinued due to “insufficient levels of consumer demand.” Snackbrands Australia, which makes the chips, said it had to make the “tough” decision to retire the brand from Coles, Woolworths, and IGA stores.
Still Available (For Now)
Fans may still spot Tyrrells at select Harris Farm, 7-Eleven, or The Reject Shop stores, but only while stocks last. The factory will continue to make Tyrrells chips for Asia-Pacific markets.
Sad Goodbye from Loyal Fans
Many Aussies have expressed their disappointment online, calling Tyrrells “the best chips on the shelves” and “the king of chips.”
Snackbrands has suggested fans try other options like Kettle or Natural Chip Company, but for many, it just won’t be the same.
