Saturday’s state election has seen one of the tightest contests in several years for the local seat of Chaffey.
Voters locally were attracted to One Nation in a big way, seeing them pick up 33.9% of the 1st preference vote, just behind the Liberal’s Tim Whetstone who gathered 35.5%.
While some votes are yet to be counted, two candidate preferred voting sees Whetstone lead the contest currently by around 2000 votes, with that enough to retain the seat for a 5th term.
While a number of seats are yet to be called, the liberals may have as few as four, with one of those being the seat of Chaffey.
Postal and declaration votes for Chaffey are yet to be counted.
