The long awaited $650,000 Riverland Flying Doctor Patient Transfer Facility (PTF) at the Renmark Airport has now opened.
The RFDS visit the Riverland at least once per day, and the need for a dedicated local site had been cited for some time.
RFDS SA/NT Chairman Peter de Cure AM said “Currently, local patients requiring stabilisation are cared for outside, on the tarmac. Our new facility will enable RFDS, SAAS and SAAS MedSTAR crews to treat more than 600 patients each year in a safe and secure setting.
Mr De Cure added further “This dedicated facility in the Riverland, for the Riverland, will set new standards in patient care and operational response times for critical patients, as well as improve comfort levels for all patients, crews and service-delivery partners.”
