There’s now budgeted moves to see the Riverland better prepared for natural disasters – including flooding.
Outlined yesterday, the 2023-24 state budget provides $1.3 million over four years for the SES to establish a strategic flood barrier reserve.
This includes the Dafencell barriers which were used widely though the region during the Murray River flood event.

The CFS was also budgeted an extra $26M to boost aerial firefighting capabilities.
