There could be further pain ahead for Mid Murray Council rate payers as they propose a 10.2% rate increase.
This has come about due to the area being impacted significantly by the river Murray flood event, together with escalating cost pressures.
To date councils flooding has cost council near on $7M, with Mid Murray Mayor Simone Bailey saying “Council has already started reviewing our operations to identify financial sustainability measures and cost savings,”

Public comment on the draft budget can be made before the 8th of June.
