A contract wine producer in the Riverland has been placed into administration.
Winemasters SA, who had been operating since the 1970’s operates a large winery at Monash, which was placed for sale last year.
No staff had been working at the site since the sale process commenced, with the site said to be effectively mothballed.
Banks are said to be owed around $3.2M, with the ATO further owed near on $300,000.
The operation, like many other Riverland wine producers saw a significant downturn following the loss of the once big Chinese export market.
Proposals are now being developed which could see further investors acquire the site.
