Less than a year from local government elections, Renmark Paringa Councillor Frank Turton has stepped down.
Via a statement yesterday, Renmark Paringa Council said “It was with regret to advise of councillor Turton’s resignation, due to personal reasons”
The often described colourful council figure had a number of stints at local government, dating back to the late 1980’s.
It’s thought a supplementary election will not be needed, however that’s yet to be confirmed by the Electoral Commission.
Council have also requested the community respect Councillor Turton’s privacy during this time.
