Lightning sparks scrub fire

A remote scrub fire north-east of Waikerie at Taylorville Station has burnt around 200 hectares.

Fire crews were first alerted just prior to 4pm yesterday, with the fire thought to have been started by lightning.

At its peak around 18 CFS firefighters with 6 fire trucks worked to contain the fire.

The CFS say smoke may be seen in the area for a number of days, with further updates expected should the situation change.
