Equipment upgrades for local CFS

Some local CFS units will soon see new fire fighting vehicles.

Over 30 quick response vehicles will soon be rolled out to several CFS brigades, taking the total number state-wide to over 80.

Locally, Morgan and Waikerie brigades have been listed to receive a new vehicle with the first deliveries to occur in September.

Unlike some traditional fire trucks, the QRV’s are able to access terrain sometimes out of reach, and have proven their worth at several grass and scrub fires.

CFS Acting Deputy Chief Officer Brenton Hastie said “The vehicles are mainly used for combating grass and scrub fires and are a significant investment in the safety of our volunteers and communities, particularly those operating in hard-to-access areas”
