Drivers doing the wrong thing

Several drivers have caught the attention of Police in the Waikerie region for the wrong reasons.

Around 7pm Saturday, police stopped a Mitsubishi ute on Ian Oliver Drive, Waikerie, for a driver test.

The driver, a 39-year-old man from Blakeview, returned an alleged blood alcohol reading of 0.210 – more than four times the legal limit.

He was reported for drink driving, issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence notice and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.

Further to this he’ll be summonsed to appear in the Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.

The day prior on Friday Police detected a Toyota station wagon travelling at 144 km/h in a 110 km/h zone on the Sturt Highway at Stockyard Plain.

The driver, a 28-year-old Waikerie man, returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.120.

He was reported for both speeding and drink driving and was issued a six-month immediate loss of licence notice. The man’s car was also impounded for 28 days.
