A property sale has netted the Renmark-Paringa Council close to $500,000, a move Council say takes positive steps to strengthen their financial position.
Recently, Council completed the sale of the Chaffey Community Centre to disability support provider Community Bridging Services (CBS), who had managed the building for the past five years.
The sale also sees the council free up $40,000 per year which had been allocated for maintenance.
New property owners CBS inc reaffirmed the centres operations would stay consistent, adding that some new and positive changes will be announced in the near future.
Renmark Paringa Mayor Peter Hunter said the sale represented a positive outcome for both the community and Council.
“This is a fantastic outcome for our community because the Chaffey Community Centre will continue operating as the valued local resource people know and rely on, while also aligning with Council’s land and asset rationalisation approach,” Mayor Hunter said.
