An award winning midwifery care program is now running in Loxton.
The official launch took place this week – with the program running for some time at Berri’s Riverland General hospital.
Just recently the local health network picked up the Excellence in Practice – Team award at the 2023 SA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards for the program, which sees expectant mothers assigned a dedicated midwife through the pregnancy until 6 weeks post birth.

Riverland Mallee Coorong Advanced Midwifery Manager Vanessa Drummond said this expansion will offer people who are expecting across the region more care and certainty throughout their pregnancy and beyond.
