Arrest made for nuisance calls

Police have arrested a Riverland woman after she allegedly made several nuisance calls to emergency services.

Police allege between the 1st of June and the 12th of August, 40 calls were received to Triple Zero and 131 444 for purposes other than to report an emergency or to request non-emergency police assistance.

Police warned the woman on the 12th of August, however allege despite the warnings two additional calls were made by the woman to Triple Zero without any legitimate reason.

As a result, Police arrested the 39-year-old woman from Berri, and is now facing the charge of making a vexatious call to an emergency services number.

Following the arrest, Riverland Police reminded the public this type of behaviour places the community at risk and puts other members of the community at risk in the event of a real emergency.
