Cracker Barrel has taken out the top spot, earning five-star ratings for taste, texture, packaging, variety and overall satisfaction. The only category where it missed a perfect score? Price. Shoppers felt it was a little more expensive than some rivals, but apparently the quality makes up for it.

The annual rankings were based on feedback from Australians who had bought and eaten block cheese in the past three months, making it a pretty solid snapshot of what’s ending up in fridges around the country.

Who Else Made The List?

Coming in behind Cracker Barrel were Bega, Mainland, Coles and Woolworths’ home brand cheeses, proving you don’t always have to spend a fortune to get a decent cheddar.
