A last-minute short term agreement will see Network 10 Free-To-Air TV stay on Riverland screens for now.

Local broadcaster Win Television had announced their deal with 10 would not be extended past June 30, however just yesterday it was announced the two broadcasters had entered a three month agreement to maintain services.

WIN welcomed the short-term agreement, but was clear that it was a pause, not a solution to the challenges faced by Regional Broadcasters

A WIN spokesperson said “They had agreed on three months to attempt to find a path forward and address the structural challenges in parts of regional Australia that have brought us to this point.

What is playing out here is not unique to WIN or to these communities, it reflects the commercial realities that every regional broadcaster in Australia is grappling with right now” The spokesperson said.

Many local 10 viewers are said to be happy with the extension, and hope the parties can strike a long term deal moving forward.
