More key worker housing could be on the way in the Riverland.

Renewal SA’s Office for Regional Housing has launched an expression of interest, calling for developers to build up to 10 homes in the Riverland.

As part of the offer, developers who take on the projects are able to secure long term leases and contributions towards additional housing-related infrastructure.

The call for expressions of interest was welcomed by Berri Barmera Council CEO, Tim Pfeiffer, who said his community continued to experience workforce shortages across a range of essential services, particularly healthcare.

“Access to suitable housing is often identified as one of the barriers to attracting and retaining skilled workers in our area,” Mr Pfeiffer said.

Just last year five new homes were constructed in Renmark as part of the key worker housing scheme.
