Renmark-Paringa locals are being invited to share their thoughts on proposals to change the way Council collects rates.

A review of the Renmark-Paringa Council’s rating structure is currently underway, with the last review conducted over 10 years ago.

Council consultation is said to be focused on ensuring the system is fair, and not about increasing the total amount of rates collected.

The review will look at the fixed charge along with the differential rates across residential, commercial, industrial, primary production, and vacant land.

Initial proposals could see rates decrease for Commercial, Industrial and primary production land over five years, while rates for vacant land could increase.

Consultation is open through to the 15th of April.
