As part of a review of marine operations, the Mid Murray Council is calling for public comments to drive sustainability.
Council is currently reviewing the sustainability of its three heritage vessels – including the iconic PS Marion and recently restored PS Canally which is based in Morgan.
Council say the review is not all about cost, with the economic benefit from the vessels said to be worth $1.2M.
Projected operations this year sees the vessels costing council between $195K and $250 to operate each year.
Volunteer hours also form part of the review, with it estimated over 15,000 hours was provided by volunteers for marine operations during 2024/25.
Any change in management or operation of the vessels will be discussed at length, with public comments able to be made via council through to the 31st of October.
