Local free-to-air TV broadcasting of Network 7 programming is set to cease within weeks, leaving several local viewers in shock.
Seven programming has been provided by WIN Television for several years, with WIN being the local Free-to-Air TV licensee for the Riverland.
Monday this week, WIN announced the 7 signals would cease at the end of June, following Seven West Media’s choice not to renew the current broadcast agreement with WIN.
WIN Network CEO Andrew Lancaster said, “While we are disappointed with Seven West Media’s decision, we respect their right to pursue their own commercial strategies”.
This impacts the 7, 7mate, and 7two services, meaning all AFL & Test Cricket unable to seen via free-to-air in the Riverland, with locals having to use online streaming to watch those sports.
Many local viewers have expressed their disappointment with the issue, with several outlining streaming limitations with reliable internet a concern for some.
Seven say they’re happy to continue discussions, with many locals remaining hopeful an agreement can be made between the two parties.
