The states anti-corruption watchdog has cleared several regional MP’s, including local member for Chaffey Tim Whetstone of misconduct over their use of an accommodation allowance.
Earlier this year the local MP resigned as the Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development after what he said at the time was an admin error over the use of the Country Members Accommodation Allowance.
At the time The local MP paid back just over $6000 for the allowance, far less than other MP’s Fraser Ellis and Stephan Knoll who both payed back over $30,000 and $40,000 respectively.
In a statement Commissioner Ann Vanstone QC said her decision to abandon the wider investigation was based upon her consideration of material collected by the Office for Public Integrity.
Speaking to InDaily Tim Whetstone said he felt “a sense of relief” at the ICAC statement and would “continue to contribute to a good Government”.
