The Waikerie District Residents and Ratepayers Association have elected a new president, with the new leader looking for accountability from council.
Recently former local councilor and Waikerie identity Trevor Quast was elected as president of the group unopposed at the 2nd AGM of the group.
Whilst recognising the efforts and achievements of the past committee and the foundation committee, Mr. Quast plans to make the association a more professional body working for the benefit of the community and also working to make council and elected members accountable to the people they serve.
Via a statement Mr Quast said “Elected members need to understand and to listen to the views of people they represent and Communication is a multi-faceted process that needs to play both ways to be effective”
The group encourages locals interested to attend their Next Public Meeting on October 12th At the Waikerie R.S.L. Clubrooms.
