Riverland police are urging the community to protect themselves against scammers after a recent phone scam cost a local resident thousands of dollars.
Last Thursday a Riverland resident received a phone call from a person claiming to be from the NBN advising there was a problem.
The victim was persuaded into allowing the caller remote access to their computer. The following day, the victim found money had been transferred from the victim's account without their permission.
Police have advised that the community that scammers never take a day off and regularly change their methods of scamming.
