LOCAL COUNCIL TO INVESTIGATE IMPROVING AIRSTRIP

A local council will investigate the possibly of upgrading aviation facilities.

At its recent meeting, the Loxton Waikerie council spoke about the possibility of bituminising the Loxton airstrip, a major improvement on its current specification.

Many pilots use the facility currently, including the RFDS who landed in Loxton nearly 70 times last year.

Councillor Michael Vowles told the Loxton News maintenance on the current runway is getting more costly as well current arrangements can be a deterrent to potential users.
