A small number of party supporters recently attended the launch of the Barker branch of the Greens political party.
The event held last Sunday saw only handful in attendance, far fewer than anticipated.
While the party has run candidates in elections locally both at the state and federal level no local branch has been in existence.
Rosa Hillam, recent Barker hopeful at the last federal election told the Murray pioneer misconceptions spread online about the party discouraged people from turning up.
Ms Hilliam also said the meeting was more about connecting people in communities that are interested in making a better and more sustainable future.
