CAR VALUE THEFT UP STATEWIDE BUT DOWN LOCALLY

Car theft

The total value of cars stolen in SA has increased by more than $2 million dollars, however car thefts in the Riverland have decreased.

Last financial year 3403 vehicles were stolen in SA – up from 3008 the previous financial year.

Locally the Berri-Barmera Council area saw a reduction from 21 thefts in 2017/18 to 11 last financial year.

The Renmark-Paringa council also saw a reduction from 15 to 9 while the Loxton-Waikerie council saw no change with 9 car thefts in the last two financial years.

RAA recommends parking your vehicle in a garage or carport if possible to deter thieves,  as well as installing senor lights in driveways.
