Local Member for Barker and Liberal candidate at Saturday’s election has backed a new initiative to assist more Australians to own their own home.
Under a proposed scheme first home buyers would need a lower deposit, currently one of the biggest barriers to home ownership.
The Member for Barker, Tony Pasin said “Saving a deposit for a first home can be a real struggle, with most banks and lenders requiring a minimum 20% deposit,”
The proposed scheme will be available to first-home buyers with an income of up to $125,000, or $200,000 for a couple who are both first home buyers
Last year 110,000 Australians bought their first home, the highest level in nine years.
