Clive Palmer's United Australia Party have announced their candidate for Barker in the upcoming Federal Election.
74 Year Old Mount Gambier resident Rupert Bacher will contest the election, saying the lack of action on issues surrounding the Murray River was the primary reason for his candidicy.
He will meet mining magnate Palmer in the coming weeks for a seminar session, Bacher admitting he was "new at this".
He joins other Barker candidates - Sitting liberal member Tony Pasin, the Greens' Rosa Hillam and Centre Alliance candidate Kelly Gladigau.
He plans to visit the Riverland next month.
