It appears locals may not have as much superannuation in their accounts than others across the state.

Recent data provided by the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) shows per electorate, Barker residents had an average of $129,121 in super, under the state average of $147,198 and national average of $147,425.

Locally, three Riverland towns recorded some of the lowest average amounts in the electorate, being Loxton, Berri & Renmark with Renmark's average super account sitting just over $100,000

Deputy CEO and Chief Policy Officer at Association of Superannuation Funds (ASFA) Glen McCrea encouraged Australians to check their super balance before the end of the financial year, to consider if the balance is where it needs to be to meet retirement goals, in the long-term.
