As the Riverland approaches the Riverlation Wine and Food festival weekend, concerns could beckon for the wine industry broadly.

Wine Australia’s latest export report shows Australian wine exports dropped by 24% in value, and 17% in volume to the year ending September 2021.

The decline has been attributed to a decrease in exports to Mainland China following significant import Tariffs being imposed.

Wine Australia General Manager Corporate Affairs and Regulation Rachel Triggs said the overall declines reflect the challenges that the Australian wine sector has faced over the past 12 months.

In some good news for the vital local industry, exports did grow to the UK, as well as some parts of South-East Asia.
