More summer sports are now underway across the region with Riverland Baseball throwing the first pitch Friday night.
The first game saw the newly reformed Riverland Pirates send shockwaves through the competition racking up an 8-5 win over the Renmark Angels.
The Riverland Pirates features a number of up and coming local players, with a sprinkling of experienced talent.
The other game saw a close game between last year’s Grand Final sides Berri Blue & Berri Red with Blue defeating Red 3-2 following a late home run.
Riverland Junior Baseball kicked off their program Saturday, featuring T-Ball & Coach Pitch.
Riverland Baseball spokesperson Paul Reid said new junior players are always welcome and are able to have a go from as young as four years old.
