A proposed power connector joining NSW and SA that is slated to be installed to the north of the Riverland is now a step closer.

This week the state government released new information saying the connector is now at the final regulatory hurdle, after both proponents ElectraNet and TransGrid lodged their final costings for the project.

Minister for Energy and Mining Dan van Holst Pellekaan welcomed the commitment by both businesses to the Interconnector.

The state government say households would save money on power bills if the project is to come to fruition.

The connector is proposed to travel from Robertstown to Wagga Wagga in NSW, travelling north of the Riverland through Buronga NSW.
