In what is pleasing news for the local wine grape industry Australian wine exports remain strong, despite significant facing hurdles.

In the 12 months prior to march 2021 Australian wine exports declined by 4 per cent in value to $2.77 billion, however only fell in volume by 1%.

Wine Australia Chief Executive Officer Andreas Clark said the decline in exports was due principally to a steep decline in exports to mainland China as well as the cumulative effects of three consecutive lower vintage in Australia leading to less volume available to export.

Despite the drop in the Chinese market, China remains the number one market for Australian wine by value, however the UK remains the number one by volume which rose by 21% in the past 12 months.
