Local primary producers may soon be able to access further agricultural chemicals, following a boost to an AGVET access program.
In total an extra $2 Million will be allocated to the program adding to the $11.86 already spent.
Minister for Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management, David Littleproud, said the grant program would help Australian farmers access safe and effective agvet chemicals.
Minister Littleproud added “Chemical use in Australia is highly regulated, which can make it cost-prohibitive for companies to register their products and difficult for farmers and companies to access the chemicals they need to control pests and diseases,”
So far the program has resulted in 41 new permit uses and eight new label uses for minor use agvet chemicals.
