Police have issued a warning to South Australian business owners to be vigilant in checking cash, following a surge in counterfeit $50 notes being passed across the state.
So far this month police have received over 50 reports of fake $50’s across Adelaide as well as regional locations.
Police say while the fake cash looks convincing they can be identified with one feature being the printing appearing to flake or looked scratched.
Should a local business suspect they have received a counterfeit note they are asked to call police assistance on 131 444.
