A strong number of boat racers took to the River Murray in Berri yesterday for the annual Riverland Powerboat Club Trophy day.
Despite the hot conditions racers battled it out all day with close racing in all classes.
The race meet attracted some of Australia's top boat racers, however it was Melbroune based driver Robert Psalia who took out the time honored 'Berri Hotel King of the River' trophy.
Post event, Mr Psalia thanked the Riverland Powerboat Club and said it was an honour to win the trophy after some attempts.
Long time boat racer Bob Reid took out the Tony Patti memorial trophy for the 85MP/H class while Steve Rumble won the Les Schrapel gold cup for the 95MP/H class.
Club Spokesperson Chris Philip thanked both the Berri Hotel and Berri-Barmera Council for thier support of the club, and said planning is now underway for next years event.
