A code red weather response has been called for the Riverland due to ongoing hot conditions.
The activation commenced last night and at this stage will run through to Thursday morning, allowing more services and assistance to those who may be sleeping rough.
Human Services Minister Michelle Lensink said the response had been activated in some parts of regional SA to assist people, following advice from the State Emergency Service about severe heatwave conditions in areas such as the Riverland.
Ms Lensink urged the community to check on the elderly, people who live alone, with disability or mental illness and those who are housebound, frail and the aged.
Those who may be needing assistance are urged to call Homelessness connect SA on 1800 003 308, with this service operating every hour of every day.
