Renmark set to host a new sort of farm

The outskirts of Renmark could be home to a 4.98Mw solar farm as part of the Renmark Paringa Council’s plan to keep the area as 'green' as possible.

The farm, which will house 18, 800 solar panels and take up a pocket of space on Ral Ral Avenue past Bookmark Creek, will be considered for approval by the Riverland Development Assessment Panel in December.

The project comes as part of the Jane Eliza Masterplan which includes environmental watering, revegetation and renewable power. The cost of the solar farm is still unclear, however indicative costs have been provided by five retailers should it go to tender.
