There’s been another Riverland fruit fly discovery, as well some outbreak zones have been expanded.
Crews continue to seek out the pest, that can see local fruit growers face harder trade conditions and in some cases locked out of some markets.
The most recent find was in Chaffey, however PIRSA Incident Controller of the Fruit Fly Emergency Response, Rob Baker said while we have had a new outbreak, detections have steadily declined during autumn and now coming into winter.
Pomegranates, Quinces, Apples and Various Citrus fruits are said to be places over winter that can attract flies and larvae.
The new outbreak zone ‘Chaffey B’ was declared earlier this week, along with expansions to the Winkie C, Renmark West & Renmark zones.
