With bank closures still dominating news in regional areas, the extent of local closures has been revealed further.
From the mid 90’s to now the Riverland & Mallee has lost over more than half of the branches that were operated by the big four Australian banks.
Over 20 branches were operating at the turn of the millennium, however now less than 10 are still open.

All of the major banks have closed local branches in recent years, with Barmera’s last bank closing 2016.
A senate inquiry looking at the matter has been in South Australia this week, which is due to wrap up in May.
