The RAA’s state budget submission has called for greater spending to restore and improve flood impacted roads through the Riverland.
The RAA say there is a $1.5Billion dollar maintenance backlog, and action is needed urgently to address key issues.
RAA Senior Manager Safety and Infrastructure Charles Mountain said “Riverland communities are in the process of rebuilding and there needs to be enough money to not only repair their roads, but consider how we can improve the safety and surface longevity through interventions like sealed shoulders, overtaking lanes and protective barriers.”
Further calls for Sturt Highway duplication were also called for, as well as more funding to lift the rating of the Mallee highway.
