The relocation of Berri’s public library is a step closer after paperwork to enable the move to proceed was submitted for public scrutiny.
The facility has been shared between the public and Berri Regional Secondary College for more than 20 years, however the Department of Education says the expanded school now requires the space to cater for students.
The library will move to the former Irving’s building at 29 Riverview Drive, with the project expected to be complete by Christmas.
A ‘Change of Use’ notification for the new premises is available for viewing at the Plans SA website until the end of the month.
In addition to the library, the new facility will feature a public meeting space, history room, reading and study spaces, and a separate children’s space.
Off-street disability access and timed parking will be established, with a proposed crossover to improve access to surrounding parking.
