As the fallout from Saturdays voice to parliament referendum continues, the local vote has seen a strong no.
The first referendum in over 20 years asked the nation if they supported a move to establish an advisory body called the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voice.
Support for the yes vote nationally sat just under 40%, with nearly 80% of votes counted. *(9.45am 16/10/2023)

The local seat of Barker recorded a yes vote of just over 22% – being among in the Australia’s lowest 15 areas that supported a yes vote.
