Renmark’s prominent former Westpac building will soon be rubble, as demolition works begin this week.
In recent years council resolved to return the 180 Murray Avenue site to pubic open space, at the time saying community consultation had been conducted which saw near on 70 responses.
Significant commercial interest was also evident for the site for a mixed use accommodation/hospitality building.
While some in the community were under the impression the 1930s art deco style building may have been heritage listed, no such listing has ever been placed on the site.
Consultation on what the future open space & concept designs can be found via Council’s website.
