The weekend’s running of the Australian BAD boat championship in Berri has been heralded as a massive success.

A high number of boat racing crews from across the nation took part in the championship, seeing crowds in the thousands over the 3 days.

A drama packed final on Sunday saw Tate Ramsey aboard ‘Reckless’ win the championship, following the pace setter Troy Marland’s Madness coming to a stop in the final corner.

A day prior on Saturday an incident in the 95MPH support class saw Victorian racer Mark Shultz taken to hospital, after two boats made contact through a corner.

Hours after the incident A Riverland Powerboat Club statement via social media outlined the injured driver was in good spirits and was now recovering in hospital.

That incident was fortunately the only one of its type for the weekend, which saw many interstate racers comment on the high quality venue.
